Mr Osman Kassim, the founder and the Chairman of the Board started a very small company, Expolanka Ltd, with only 2 employees in 1978, with a view to export fresh produce from Sri Lanka. From its unassuming beginnings as a family business, Expolanka Holdings PLC has ventured on a long and progressive path to what it is today - a diversified conglomerate, spanning 17 countries with 45 offices in Asia, Africa, USA and the Middle East. The company is engaged in varied sectors including Freight & Logistics, Travel & Leisure, International Trading & Manufacturing and Investment & Services. Today Expolanka Holdings PLC is rated among the Top 10 companies in Sri Lanka employing a staff of 2,750 of 16 nationalities and has a turnover of over US$ 425 million.

Mr Osman Kassim is also one of the key founders and visionaries behind the Amana Group of Companies engaged in Islamic Banking & Financial Services in Sri Lanka & Maldives. The Amana Group of which Mr Kassim is still Chairman  consists of, amongst other companies,  Amana Bank, Amana Takaful  Amana Asset Management etc.

He counts over 35 years entrepreneurial experience and holds an honorary doctorate from the University of Staffordshire, UK.
